Owners’ comments
A magnificent residence located in Montebello that is established on a land of 18,904 square meters or 203,480 square feet, lakeside of Lake Charest which offers crystal-like water reserved to the homeowners of Montevilla. There is a panoramic view of the lake enveloped by the beautiful nature Montebello has to offer. This one-of-a-kind home is perfectly designed to fit contemporary and traditional home or chalet styles.
This home has 488 square meters or 5,250 square feet of habitable surface which includes two floors, four bedrooms, five bathrooms, two powder rooms, a mezzanine, and an abundance of windows to feel included in nature and receive plenty of sunlight. A kitchen perfect for entertaining which includes a commercial grade dishwasher (Hobbart), a commercial grade grill, and a food warmer as well as a gas stove.
The dining room with an excellent view of the lake located in between the two living areas in which one wall is made of beech on the East side and the other offers ceilings of 5.5 meters high or 16 to 20 feet high with floors made of Jatoba wood (Brazilian cherry).
This residence comprises an original wood-burning fireplace made in 1930 as well as a central fireplace to facilitate the heating of the home. A perfect home with a beautiful untouched history and a hint of modernity.
This residence is the perfect place for those who enjoy hosting events with family and friends. With neighbors being distant and quiet, a dock that gives you direct access to the private serene lake, peace, and tranquility awaits you. Just a couple of steps down from this residence you can expect to find a public swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court, and beautiful hiking trails that immerse you in the beautiful nature of Montebello.
____
This residence is a historical footprint as the first part of the house was constructed around the year 1871 and was later owned by the Mackenzie family which turned a 500-square-foot home into a much larger residence when they bought it in 1930 from the Charrette family.
The Mackenzie family made this their summer home until 1966. In 1970 Gerard Lafortune took over Montevilla and turned it into a hostel and holiday resort, and made the necessary changes to this residence to fit his needs of creating a tourist spot. His relationship with Montevilla ends in 2008 when we decided to purchase this residence in the hopes of conserving this splendid historical place for our own personal use.
Our residence is exceptional for family and friends since it is not only just a home but a place that offers joy and happiness that must be shared with others. This house brings out joy and pleasure which is exactly what it was built for!
