DuProprio deplores the new attack of the QFREB

MONTREAL, Dec. 3, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - DuProprio, the largest commission-free real estate company in Quebec, is disappointed for consumers with the Québec Federation of Real Estate Boards’ (QFREB) request for authorization to institute a class action filed today by the Quebec Federation of Real Estate Boards (QFREB).

For DuProprio, this is another attempt orchestrated by the real estate brokerage industry to slow the growth of property sale without an intermediary in Quebec and to undermine the public’s trust towards this greatly appreciated consumer option.

DuProprio finds it regrettable that the brokerage industry invests so much effort in a strategy that, ultimately, seeks to deprive consumers of the freedom to choose the service that best suits them when it comes to selling their property. DuProprio also denounces this initiative, which evidently, has no other aim than to create a false sense of distrust towards the sale without an intermediary.

This new development highlights the desire of the real estate brokerage industry to target DuProprio and its successful business model. This latest attempt adds to the successive and concerted advertising campaigns of the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier (OACIQ) and the QFREB that target DuProprio’s business model.

DuProprio is also very surprised that it is being accused of denigrating real estate brokers. Effie Giannou, Managing Director of Communications at DuProprio, mentions that "The primary challenge faced by our clients is having to defend their choice, which is completely legitimate, to sell their property without an intermediary while real estate brokers solicit them incessantly."

The company has been admired and respected by Quebecers since its founding in 1997. A survey conducted by CAA-Quebec revealed that 99% of its clients were ready to recommend the company’s services to their entourage. Additionally, a survey conducted annually with the Quebecers by the Léger firm revealed that DuProprio ranked 16th among the most admired Quebec companies.

DuProprio invites the real estate brokerage industry to check its conscience. If the QFREB truly has the consumers at heart, it should seriously evaluate their satisfaction with regards to the services of real estate brokers. According to Baromètre des professions 2013 du Québec conducted by the Léger survey firm, the level of trust that Quebecers have towards the profession is very low. In fact, when asked the question "Do you trust real estate brokers" only 28% of those surveyed responded "yes".

For DuProprio, the consumers are not fooled and they will make sense of things.
