Owners’ comments
This property faces Main street, no neighbours, adjacent to a park, 5 minutes from a 9 hole golf course, and 30 minutes from universities and hospitals. The buildings have an American vernacular style and were built around 1890.The house was repositioned on the lot on a new concrete foundation and was entirely renovated : insulation, gypsum, heating (wood & electricity), electricity, plumbing, guillotine windows, piping for central vacuum, the front door, and the veranda floor & roof.
Main floor : the entire flooring surface was redone with 5" tongue-and-groove oiled tamarack boards in walnut colour except for the powder room (ceramic). The 4½" window casings and the 9 floor mouldings are made of ash. The ceilings are 8 5 high. Kitchen cupboards of your choice...Laundry room and powder room on the main floor.
The 2nd floor : the entire flooring surface was redone in 7" tongue-and-groove spruce with a scandinavian style finish except for two of the three bedrooms and the bathroom (ceramic). The 7" floor mouldings are made of spruce and the 4 ½" window casings are made of ash.
Original characteristics inside: 3 embossed tin ceilings on the main floor, 2 bedroom floorboards (varying from 9" to 14"), the main staircase, the bathtub, the bathroom and bedroom doors including hardware, the back door.
Original characteristics outside : clapboard on the house and the garage, the veranda with its circular parapet decorated with lozenge shaped shingles, columns and frieze made of small balusters, the bay-window.
The double garage was equally repositioned on the lot on a concrete slab and new doors were installed. The 2nd floor has potential for a workshop and or additional rooms.
