Owners’ comments
After 12 years of tremendous enjoyment we are selling our family home!
It's one of those rare houses that immediately feels good and right when you walk through the front door. Its very unique to the neighbourhood and is kind of a grand old dame. When we bought, we were told that it was built by the Editor of Le Droit and you can feel the pride that went into it. The house was built in 1949 and still has all the original moldings, high ceilings and an extra large living room and master bedroom. The house is surrounded by large mature trees. Here you can live centrally and still have lots of green space and privacy.
Some details
Located a 5 minute drive from downtown Ottawa (you can see Parliament Hill from the upstairs balcony) and walking distance from all services, this home is adjacent to Parc Larocque and one block from the business district of St. Joseph Boulevard. The park has a supervised inground pool in summer, basketball court, four tennis courts, a playground and a hockey rink in winter. We are located a 10 minute walk from the Gatineau Park, and the extensive bike trail network of the National Capital Region.
The house is relatively large for the neighborhood with three bedrooms on the top floor and a fourth in the finished basement, as well as 2.5 bathrooms. Recent upgrades include finished basement, a gorgeous new kitchen, new windows and doors, UV sauna, gas fireplace and a top-of-the-line heat pump (heats up to -30 Celsius).
The large, fenced backyard has mature trees and gardens and is a quiet oasis from the city. It is not necessary to own a car, because in addition to being walking distance from all services, and being a block from public transit, there are also two Communauto cars parked in front of the house for ride-sharing.
Inclusions:
UV sauna, washer and dryer, gas fireplace, all light fixtures.
