The two front holes and the one in the center were dug at 5 feet and the soil was composed of good clay not problematic for construction. The two back holes were dug to a depth of 8 feet and the excavator was able to find the first layer of clay and then a sandy bottom. This reduces the risk of falling on rock during construction and avoids any unpleasant surprises that could result.
