Tips for sellers
- Make sure the price is right and the product is interesting
An open house is the perfect opportunity to find a buyer, as long as the property is attractive and the price is right! To make the most of an open house, you need to showcase your home and make sure the asking price is competitive.
- Ask visitors for their impressions
Meeting visitors is also an opportunity to talk to them. You only need to ask a few questions to get a better idea of what they think of the property. This will open the door for conversation, encourage questions and—above all—reveal information that will come in handy if you have to adjust your marketing strategy. For example, if all the visitors say the property is expensive, you might want to consider adjusting the price.
- Advertise the open house
Put up directional open house signs to help buyers find your property. Advertise a few days before the event by putting posters up in strategic places like street corners where there’s a lot of traffic.

- Print interesting listings
On each listing on DuProprio website, there is an icon you can click to download a printable version. Find it and print all the useful information on a property.
By printing the listings of properties you plan on visiting, you’ll also have the addresses, owners’ contact information and details on hand (price, dimensions and number of rooms, for instance), which you might otherwise forget.
- Prepare useful questions
When you visit a home for sale, it’s your chance to meet the owner and get the details you’ll need to make an informed decision. It’s best to be prepared!
If you prepare a list of questions, you’ll get the most out of it and won’t forget anything important.
- Visit, compare and keep an open mind
It’s not every day you can visit and compare several properties in one afternoon. So take full advantage of the opportunity! The more properties you visit, the more chances you have of finding that gem.
Visiting several properties will also give you an idea of what’s for sale in an area you’re interested in and help you tell the good deals from the mediocre ones.
