Owners’ comments
At the moment, we do not offer visits, since we are doing renovations which will take months to complete. We may get back to visiting next fall. Sorry.
----------
About 14 years ago, we fell in love with this property.
Since then, the property has been given a new lease on life; a $250 Enregistrer et continuer ,000 restoration, including $100,000 in materials and more than 4,000 hours of labour.
All the paneled windows have been restored. Many have been rebuilt from scratch respecting the original materials and plans (pine window with sashes, pulleys and counterweights). The siding on the exterior walls of the 2nd and 3rd floor was redone in first quality cedar. The entire exterior is protected with three coats of stain with a 25-year warranty. The cornices are all decorated with real pine art and craft style lacework.
The house is a real museum and includes unique and priceless pieces such as the oak-covered brass toilet tank (from the CIP president's office), the two lion paw baths, the three bathrooms made of marble, granite and slate, the magnificent enamelled cast iron fireplace whose mantle has been restored, the attic room on the 3rd floor, the magnificent ceilings... and the central air conditioning.
In the back, the old garage has been completely restored with a completely white cedar exterior protected with a very high quality, durable, non-scaling finish.
In addition to the garage, the rear balcony will soon be completed in white cedar.
If you like intimacy, the backyard is completely private and we now have a magnificent natural stone terrace surrounded by beautiful flower beds.
The house is located 15-20 minutes from downtown Ottawa, close to shopping centers and all services.
We welcome visitors on Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm by appointment.
Selling our home breaks our hearts, but future plans have to be lived...
Other dreams are waiting for us!
