What is a cookie?
Cookies and similar technologies (e.g., HTML5 storage specifications, web beacons, embedded scripts) are very small data files that often include an anonymous, unique identifier. These technologies collect data from your device and your browsing on our Platforms. Information collected through cookies and similar technologies may include the date and time of visits and how our Platforms are used. They will allow our Platforms to recognize the user at the time of subsequent visits made from this computer or mobile device, and to remember certain information about him. We use the term "cookies" in this Policy to refer to all technologies that collect information in this way.
Cookies are intended to improve the efficiency and usability of our Platforms, to analyze your use of our Platforms, and to assist us in our promotional and marketing efforts (including targeted and behavioral advertising). You can choose to reject cookies if your browser allows it, but this decision may influence how you will be able to use our Platforms and your ability to access certain of their features.
By visiting our Platforms, you acknowledge that we may store and access essential cookies on your computer or mobile device. Essential cookies are cookies which are essential for the operation of our Platforms and use basic functions, and to ensure the security of our Platforms. Please note that we do not need your consent to store and access essential cookies as such cookies are necessary for our Platforms to function and we have a legitimate business interest for doing so. Therefore, these cookies cannot be deactivated.
Further, by visiting our Platforms, you consent to us storing and accessing certain non-essential cookies on your computer or mobile device. These cookies are not essential to the operation of our Platforms but allow us to provide additional functionality or to gather additional information about your use of our Platforms.
We are always on the lookout for new ways to improve our Platforms and be able to provide you with better services tailored to your interests. Thus, we use different types of cookies for the following purposes:
- To assist you in the navigation of our Platforms;
- To assist you in registering for our events, creating or accessing your account, using our services and your ability to provide us with feedback;
- To analyze how you use our Platforms; and
- To assist in our promotional and marketing activities (including targeted advertising).
What types of cookies do we use?
We use first-party cookies (i.e. cookies placed directly by us or our service providers), as well as third party cookies (i.e. cookies placed by third-party partners that we authorized). When these third-party partners use third party cookies, they are responsible for the cookies they use. We invite you to consult their cookie management policies. You can also use their consent management tools to set your preferences and opt out of these third-party partners collecting information about you when you visit our Platforms.
Cookies can be classified into different categories according to their purposes:
Strictly necessary cookies: These cookies are essential in order to help you to move around on our Platforms and use basic functions, and to the ensure the security of our Platforms. They are usually set as a response to actions you have taken that constitute a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling out forms. You can configure your browser to block these cookies or warn you about them, but if you do so parts of our Platforms may stop working.
Functionality cookies: These cookies are used to improve and personalize the functionalities of our Platforms. They remember the choices you make (your username or your latest real estate property searches, for example) and provide personalized services. Thanks to these cookies, you do not have to enter certain information each time you log into our Platforms. They can be activated by our teams, or by third parties whose services are used on our Platforms. If you block these cookies, then some or all of the features of the Platforms may not work well.
Performance cookies: These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources, so we can better know and understand the people who use our Platforms, and measure and improve their performance. They help us know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around our Platforms. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited our Platforms and we will have less information to improve the performance of our Platforms.
Targeting Cookies: These, typically third party cookies placed by our advertising partners, are used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on our Platforms and on other sites. They will also limit the number of times you see a particular ad as well as they measure the effectiveness of the ad campaigns. They remember your device’s visit on the Platforms and help to understand shopping behaviors and thus to improve our Platforms and provide ads and offers tailored to your interests. If you do not allow these cookies, you will not experience our targeted advertising across different websites.
