A few years ago, it was the yard that made us fall in love. No neighbours behind, greenery as far as the eye can see, and that late afternoon light that comes in; the courtyard faces north-west. Since then, we've spent all our summers there: kids in the heated pool, friends around the table on the terrace, and enough space at the back of the field for the trampoline and a good game of soccer. It is a courtyard where you can let the little ones play without ever losing sight of them.
Inside, the house was designed for a family. The ground floor opens onto a bright hall, then onto a hardwood living room bathed in light. The kitchen, with its large central island, overlooks the dining room and the courtyard: practical when you watch dinner with one eye and the children with the other. A powder room and a laundry room complete the ground floor, which avoids going down to the basement with a laundry basket on your hip.
Upstairs, three bedrooms, including the master bedroom with its walk-in closet, and a full bathroom with podium bath and separate shower.
The basement, on the other hand, is the kingdom of children: a large family room of over twenty feet, two other bedrooms and a bathroom completely redone in 2021. Five rooms in total: enough to accommodate a large family, set up an office, or receive a visit without reorganizing the whole house
.What we enjoyed the most, beyond the house, was the neighborhood. Almost everything is done on foot: elementary school, high school, the park, the library, the bike path and even a small standalone store where you can get eggs and fresh vegetables. For the youngest, the sector is particularly well equipped: several family environments and a Montessori CPE, which is no small thing when looking for a place. The grocery store and the pharmacy are a few minutes away by car, and the bridges are nearby; you can reach Quebec without having the impression of living in the city
.In terms of maintenance, the bulk of it was done: the roof was redone in 2023, the basement bathroom in 2021, and the foundations were stabilized on piles in 2017 by a specialized company, with guaranteed work and levelling certificates available. The house is heated by electricity with a wall-mounted heat pump, and has an air exchanger, a central vacuum and an alarm system. The integrated garage is heated, and the double-width asphalt driveway accommodates four cars
.We are leaving this house with regret, for a life project elsewhere. It is available at the end of December: time for a family to settle down quietly before the new year.

Il y a quelques années, c'est la cour qui nous a fait craquer. Pas de voisin derrière, de la verdure à perte de vue, et cette lumière de fin d'après-midi qui vient s'y installer; la cour est orientée au nord-ouest. Depuis, on y a passé tous nos étés : les enfants dans la piscine chauffée, les amis autour de la table sur la terrasse, et assez d'espace au fond du terrain pour le trampoline et une bonne partie de soccer. C'est une cour où l'on peut laisser les petits jouer sans jamais les perdre de vue.
À l'intérieur, la maison a été pensée pour une famille. Le rez-de-chaussée s'ouvre sur un hall lumineux, puis sur un salon en bois franc baigné de lumière. La cuisine, avec son grand îlot central, donne directement sur la salle à manger et sur la cour : pratique quand on surveille le souper d'un oeil et les enfants de l'autre. Une salle d'eau et une salle de lavage complètent le rez-de-chaussée, ce qui évite de descendre au sous-sol avec un panier de linge sur la hanche.
À l'étage, trois chambres, dont la chambre principale avec son walk-in, et une salle de bain complète avec bain podium et douche indépendante.
Le sous-sol, lui, est le royaume des enfants : une grande salle familiale de plus de vingt pieds, deux autres chambres et une salle de bain entièrement refaite en 2021. Cinq chambres au total : de quoi loger une grande famille, installer un bureau, ou recevoir la visite sans réorganiser toute la maison.
Ce que nous avons le plus apprécié, au-delà de la maison, c'est le quartier. Presque tout se fait à pied : l'école primaire, l'école secondaire, le parc, la bibliothèque, la piste cyclable et même un petit magasin autonome où l'on va chercher des oeufs et des légumes frais. Pour les plus jeunes, le secteur est particulièrement bien pourvu : plusieurs milieux familiaux et un CPE Montessori, ce qui n'est pas rien quand on cherche une place. L'épicerie et la pharmacie sont à quelques minutes en auto, et les ponts sont tout près ; on rejoint Québec sans avoir l'impression d'habiter en ville.
Côté entretien, le plus gros a été fait : la toiture a été refaite en 2023, la salle de bain du sous-sol en 2021, et les fondations ont été stabilisées sur pieux en 2017 par une entreprise spécialisée, avec travaux garantis et certificats de nivellement disponibles. La maison est chauffée à l'électricité avec une thermopompe murale, et compte un échangeur d'air, un aspirateur central et un système d'alarme. Le garage intégré est chauffé, et l'entrée asphaltée double largeur accueille quatre voitures.
Nous quittons cette maison à regret, pour un projet de vie ailleurs. Elle est disponible à la fin décembre : le temps, pour une famille, de s'installer tranquillement avant la nouvelle année.
